The programme offers a hybrid experience blending theory and hands-on experimentation, with each module addressing a specific area of contemporary creation.

Immagine, memoria, movimento, narrazione: 4 workshop d'artista online per esercitare la mente (Italian Only)

The online workshop series Immagine, memoria, movimento, narrazione: 4 workshop d'artista online per esercitare la mente structured into four independent modules — each consisting of three or four sessions — represents an opportunity to explore artmaking through an immersive, practice-based journey. Participants will gain direct insight into the working methods, questions, and tools that guide an artist's research. Sessions will alternate between collective discussion and active hands-on work, with the aim of fostering a genuinely workshop-like environment, even within a digital format.

The project was conceived with the goal of bringing artists and participants together in a focused and accessible setting, encouraging exchange, experimentation, and operational continuity between sessions. The programme will be led by key figures from the international scene: Stefano Arienti, Moira Ricci, Marinella Senatore, and Lucapaolo Barbieri Marchi of Alterazioni Video will guide an analysis of creative processes, demonstrating how an idea transforms into practice through specific operational choices, tools, and methodological approaches.

Each module consists of two-hour sessions, structured to alternate the artist's perspective with hands-on review moments facilitated by project tutors. Participants will have the opportunity to work directly with the proposed materials and to engage with the artists during collective analysis and critical discussion of results.

The project aims to provide practical tools and to clarify the essential directions of art today — exploring different areas of contemporary practice and offering participants the chance to engage with methods and working approaches that are varied yet complementary.

Throughout the programme, the following themes will be explored in depth: Image — with Stefano Arienti — understood as an operational device and a field of experimentation and manipulation; Memory — with Moira Ricci — through a workshop that reflects on the manipulation and reinterpretation of individual or collective stories and events; Movement — with Marinella Senatore, who explores it as a tool for collective storytelling and knowledge; and Narrative — with Alterazioni Video, in a workshop that investigates the hybrid and blurred territories of post-truth.

The workshops are designed for emerging artists, students of Fine Arts academies, curators, and visual researchers, but are also open to enthusiasts and non-academic profiles with a strong inclination toward experimentation and a desire to engage with the methods of contemporary creation.

Workshop info and duration: each workshop consists of three or four 2-hour sessions. Sessions are always held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Professors

Stefano Arienti

Stefano Arienti

Stefano Arienti explores the generative processes of the image through the manipulation of archival materials and supports, proposing interventions of perforation, tracing, and variation that dismantle their original function. He has exhibited his research in numerous shows at MAXXI in Rome, PAC in Milan, and within the Venice Biennale. His practice is regularly documented in catalogues and critical essays published by leading contemporary art institutions.

Moira Ricci

Moira Ricci

Moira Ricci is an Italian artist whose research, often autobiographical in nature, interweaves photography, video, and installation. At the heart of her work lie the themes of identity, family memory, and a deep bond with her place of origin. Through the manipulation of archival imagery and the recovery of popular myths, Ricci constructs narratives suspended between reality and fiction, capable of giving visual form to private traumas and emotions.

Marinella Senatore

Marinella Senatore

Marinella Senatore explores the dynamics of social participation through the language of movement, proposing choral performances, parades, and light installations that involve entire communities. She has presented her projects at the High Line in New York, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and within major international museum institutions. Her practice is regularly documented in monographic volumes and sector publications such as Artforum, Flash Art, and The New York Times.

Alterazioni Video

Alterazioni Video

Alterazioni Video is an artistic collective founded in Milan in 2004, whose research sits at the intersection of art, activism, and new media. The group analyses the languages of communication and the structures of power through video, performance, and installation. Characterised by an ironic and provocative approach, the collective deconstructs contemporary reality by moving between satire and documentation, transforming social and political phenomena into complex visual and spatial narratives.
