Punk, Industrial, Hip Hop: Noise, Rebellion, and Urban Language (1975–2000)
Music as a political and social act. Punk (Sex Pistols, Clash, CCCP) destroys the rules and brings urgency to the word. Industrial (Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten, Nine Inch Nails) merges body and machine, opening up to the post-human. In the same years, hip hop is born: from the streets of the Bronx to the productions of Public Enemy and Run-D.M.C., to the poetic intelligence of Tupac and Nas. Rhythm becomes urban language and a form of resistance.
