Luca Malavasi


Luca Malavasi is an associate professor at the University of Genoa, where he teaches Film History and Analysis, Cinema and Visual Culture, and Contemporary Cinema and Television Seriality. His work focuses primarily on the history and theory of cinema, contemporary film, and visual culture. He is an editor at Cineforum and a contributor to FilmTv. He has edited monographic issues for Bianco e Nero (2016), La Valle dell'Eden (2018), Cinergie (2017, 2026), and VSC-Visual Culture Studies (2022). He is a member of the Self Media Lab: Scritture, Performance, Tecnologie del Sé (University of Pavia), of the Research Centre in Philosophy and Cinema – PHILM (Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and University of Verona), and of ciVIS, the Interdepartmental Research Centre on Visuality (University of Genoa). He also sits on the doctoral faculty of the PhD programme in Visual Culture at the University of Palermo. His publications include Realismo e tecnologia.
