Caroline Vercoe
Caroline Vercoe (Samoa, Aotearoa New Zealand) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art History at the University of Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand. She specializes in contemporary Pacific art and performance, with a particular focus on issues of race, gender, and representation. Over the past three decades, she has been actively involved in teaching, curating, and researching in these areas. Her scholarship has been published in various esteemed journals, including the Journal of New Zealand & Pacific Studies, Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art, and the Journal of Pacific History. She has also contributed to significant publications such as Pacific Art Niu Sila: Pacific Heritage in the Arts (2002), In Pursuit of Venus (2015), and Declaration: A Pacific Feminist Agenda (2020). Her curatorial work often addresses themes of identity, place, and diaspora, engaging with the complexities of postcolonial narratives and the dynamics of cultural exchange.
