Nicola Bianchi

Nicola Bianchi is a biomedical engineer with an Italian soul and a European heart, who over the years has developed a strong awareness as a global citizen. He graduated in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pisa and began his international journey as a research scholar at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, later working in the United Kingdom, Denmark, and the United States in the biomedical sector.
Since 2010, he has been based in Rome, collaborating with the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research, where he focuses on research and innovation policies as well as managing programs within the framework of European cohesion policy. He serves as a research project evaluator and contributes as an expert to several European Commission working groups on structural and investment funds.
A strong advocate of open government and civic engagement, Nicola is a founding member of the Eurispes Tuscany Institute of Political, Economic and Social Studies and a member of the Rena Association. In 2014, he was part of the winning team of the Code4Italy Award, granted by the Italian Parliament for the best applications created for citizens using open data from the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic.
Deeply committed to participatory practices and urban regeneration, he supports the NextRieti laboratory, through which he aspires to build bridges of best practices between different territories.
Passionate about travel, nature, and diverse peoples and cultures, Nicola sees innovation as the guiding thread of both his personal and professional journey.
