Silvia Federici is a feminist activist and a renowned political theorist. In 1972, she co-founded the International Feminist Collective, which launched the campaign Wages for Housework internationally. Her previous books include Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body and Primitive Accumulation (2004); Revolution at Point Zero (2012); Witches, Witch-Hunting, and Women (forthcoming 2018); and Re-enchanting the World: Feminism and the Politics of the Common (forthcoming 2018). She is professor emerita at Hofstra University. Her work has demonstrated the oversight in Marxian theory of one of the fundamental features of capitalist accumulation: namely, the subjugation of women and women’s productive and reproductive labour. Federici is known for her focus on the struggle against capitalist globalization and, more recently, on developing a feminist theory of the commons.

Gladys Tzul Tzul is a Maya K'iche’ woman from Totonicapán. She is a writer and essayist. Holding a PhD in Sociology, she has conducted research in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Ecuador, and the United States. In 2018, she received the Voltaire Prize from the University of Potsdam (Germany) in recognition of her research and body of work. She has published two books on communal political theory, as well as numerous academic articles translated into English, French, and German. She has delivered keynote lectures at academic and arts conferences across Latin America, the United States, and Europe. She served as coordinator for the criminal proceedings regarding the October 4th Massacre—an event in which the Guatemalan army violently suppressed an uprising by the 48 Cantons of Totonicapán—and acted as an expert witness in the high-profile criminal trial concerning the Berta Cáceres case in Honduras. Since 2024, she has been a visiting professor at FLACSO Ecuador. She currently directs the documentary project *El diseño de un mundo festivo: Miguel Ángel Tzul y su marimba orquesta* (Designing a Festive World: Miguel Ángel Tzul and His Marimba Orchestra).

ruangrupa (which loosely translates as ‘a space for art’) is an artist’s initiative and collective started in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2000. As a contemporary art ekosistem, it seeks to analyse and mediate ideas of visual art, public art, performance art, and video art, working toward a common critical sensibility. ruangrupa’s artistic practices have culminated in forms of art events and workshops, exhibitions, art writing and criticism workshops, festivals, even parties and karaokes. It functions as a contemporary hub and non-profit organisation, having built research archives, an art lab, radio station, several art festivals, and a journal among others. ruangrupa curated Sonsbeek ’16: TRANSaction, and in 2019 was appointed as Artistic Director of Lumbung 1 (also more popularly known as documenta fifteen (2022)). ruangrupa doesn’t work on memberships, so the number of its members is never fixed, despite naturally some names have stayed longer than others. It is an interdisciplinary team, composed of artists, architects, and social scientists among others. ruangrupa, through the establishment of Gudskul (in 2018, together with two other Jakarta-based collectives: Serrum and Grafis Huru Hara), practices lumbung (meaning rice barn in Indonesian), where a common pool system is created and all resources—tangible and intangible—are collected and divided proportionally according to needs. Laura Pando Martínez, is a culture and climate expert practitioner and the Interim CEO of Julie’s Bicycle. With extensive experience across the cultural and public sectors, Laura has supported over a thousand creative organisations and local authorities throughout the UK and Europe to act on climate and become more resilient. During her time at Climate KIC, Laura served as the Co-Coordinator of Pathways2Resilience, a 30 million project supporting the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. She led on the design of a learning programme to drive just transformational adaptation, helping 100 European Regions and Communities to become resilient by 2030. Earlier in her career, Laura worked to embed sustainable practice into large live-music events such as the iconic Reading, Leeds and Latitude festivals. Her expertise spans systems change and innovation, collaborative learning design and sensemaking, place-based and culture-based climate mitigation and resilience strategies.
