SPECULATIVE PLATFORMS
Platforms are understood here simultaneously as technical infrastructures, social environments, aesthetic interfaces, and political economies...
This line of study engages with digital and virtual realms to investigate how new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and generative systems, virtual reality, online platforms and social networks, shape contemporary artistic production while simultaneously transforming the reception of art and the practice of curating itself, resulting in hybridised functions, spaces, and languages. Beyond these practical applications, this line critically engages with the speculative potential of digital and hybrid environments, examining how they reshape notions of presence, authenticity, and audience agency, while challenging traditional boundaries between creator, curator, and viewer in the evolving art ecosystem. The various perspectives around this line make visible the fact that platforms are not only technological; they are also narrative machines, governance systems, spaces of speculation, and sites where attention, agency, and participation are constantly reconfigured.
