Johanna Hoffman
Johanna Hoffman is an urbanist working at the intersection of design, planning, fiction, and futures. She is the founder of Design for Adaptation, a research and action institute that uses strategic planning and speculative practice to help communities, cities, and organizations navigate future uncertainty and build proactive resilience.
She holds an MLA in landscape architecture and environmental planning from UC Berkeley and has held fellowships at institutions including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the European Futures Observatory, the Berggruen Institute, and USC. Her book, Speculative Futures: Design Approaches to Navigate Change, Foster Resilience, and Co-Create the Cities We Need, was published in 2022.
