Hedwig A. M. Fijen (born 13 January 1961 in Haarlemmerliede/Spaarnwoude, Netherlands) is a Dutch art historian and curator. She co-founded the nomadic European biennial Manifesta and has served as its founding director since its start in the 1990s. She studied History and History of Art at the University of Amsterdam. Under her leadership, Manifesta has become an interdisciplinary platform that engages with pressing social, cultural, ecological, and political issues in Europe, working collaboratively with host cities and communities.
