Adriana Kowalik

Adrianna Wiktoria Kowalik, head curator and coordinator of the Secondary Archive at the Katarzyna Kozyra Foundation, focuses her research on critical art from Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine. Holding a master’s degree in Contemporary Art from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, she continues her academic and curatorial work through the Secondary Archive, a digital platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of women artists from post-socialist contexts and regions affected by authoritarianism, war, and precarity. Recently, she presented the project “Secondary Archive: Women Artists in War” at the Resilience Through Culture conference in Brussels, highlighting the artistic practices of Ukrainian women creating directly from the war front. Through such initiatives, the Secondary Archive stands as a space of resistance, memory, and activism, confronting systemic erasure and opening urgent dialogues on gender, identity, and cultural rights in places where artistic freedom and expression remain under threat.
