Michele Cerruti But

Course Leader of the three-year program in Public Art at the Accademia Unidee-Fondazione Pistoletto, he is a lecturer in Urban Planning at the Polytechnic University of Turin. His research, which always intersects with different disciplines, focuses on three main themes: the spatial forms of contemporary production, urban planning as a relational project, and media territories as a platform for Western modernity.
He has lectured in Italy and abroad on public space, intermediate territories, the social engagement of art, and the crisis of contemporaneity, publishing articles and critical essays in books, scientific journals, and trade journals. In 2021, he co-coordinated the national working group of the Creativity Forum of UNESCO Creative Cities and the drafting of the Carrara Charter on art and crafts as tools for sustainable urban development. He is the author of the book Prato. Città e Produzione (Inu 2023), and co-author of the books Inhabiting Future Frictions (Letteraventidue 2025) and Spatial Tensions in Urban Design. Understanding Contemporary Urban Phenomena (Springer 2021).
